This is a great video done by Andrew Warner of Mixergy.com with one of my favourite authors Mark Schaefer. Mark is the author of Return On Influence: The Revolutionary Power of Klout, Social Scoring, and Influence Marketing in which he postulates that in todays highly connected world we have got to find new ways to connect to people.
According to Mark : people (you , me, our customers) are sick of being advertised to, they’re sick of being marketed to. Or in the words of Seth Godin”They are tired of being interrupted” by marketers.
What i took from the book and video is that as marketers, as business owners or even as someone building a personal brand , we have got to have : a content strategy AND a network strategy. In today’s highly connected world the content doesn’t matter (no matter how good it is) if it doesn’t move.
