In life, there will be times when we will be faced with obstacles in our way, that have the potential to stop us.
Sure you could see these obstacles as a dead end with nowhere to go.
Or you could use the obstacles and roadblock as a opportunity to try a new way, a new path, a new direction.
The closing of one road simply means that you are challenged to find a new way to proceed.
Remember there is always more than one way to get to your destination.
Whether on a real journey or on this journey that is life and business, you will come across “road closed” signs.
The loss of a job, changes in the economy, the loss of a major client, all these and more could force us to take a different path.
When these things happen, it can seem frightening.
Because as humans, we are really comfortable with the direction in which we are going.
And an unknown road is a scary road to travel.
However, what if instead of being scared by the new road, and seeing it as a bad thing and as a misfortune, you rather viewed it as a new opportunity to explore?
While this will not mean that when we come up against a road closure that we won’t be taken aback or even stopped for a time.
When you first meet up with dead ends you might find yourself angry, confused or even in denial.
That is natural and those feelings need to be acknowledged and processed.
But don’t take too long processing.
Adjust to the new situation, but then make a commitment to to move on, and venture off in a new direction.
Mentoring Challenge
Have you met up with a closed road recently and were not sure how to handle it?
Take your time and allow yourself to feel the feelings, perhaps enlist the help of friends or professionals that can support you through the transition.
Once you feel the time is right, begin to plot a new course.
When one road closes, this is a great time to research other opportunities that may not have been on your path before.
