You’ve already got all of the ability you’ll ever need.
It’s already inside you.
In the 1800s, Niccolo Paganini, one of the greatest violinists of all time, was about to perform in a sold-out opera house in Italy.
Right before the performance, he was running around backstage like a maniac.
The stage manager said,
“Niccolo! Five minutes and you’re on.”
Niccolo went into a back room, grabbed a violin, went out on stage, and gave the performance of his life.
Huge, thunderous, standing ovation.
When he finally got backstage, the stage manager came in.
He said, “Niccolo, you were a mad man before the performance.
Usually you’re cool, calm and collected.
What happened?”
He said, “I found my Stradivarius after the performance.
Right before I went on stage I couldn’t find it.
I had to borrow somebody’s lousy violin.
I’m glad it happened because today I learned the most important lesson in my whole musical career.
The music is not in the violin; the music is in me.
And it’s the same with you.
The music’s in you.
The athletic talent’s in you.
You are not lacking it.
You’re blocking it.
And all you’ve got to do is have the courage to let it out.
Or don’t.
Only you can decide.
