It’s an ailment that has plagued mankind for centuries.
This debilitating illness knows no bounds. It’s capable of launching a full blown assault while you are brushing your teeth, going to the bathroom, playing video games, wasting time on Facebook, or even perusing YouTube for the latest “Call Me Maybe” video. It has been known to occur in the home, at work, at a coffee shop, on a plane, and even on a boat.
We’re not safe anywhere.
It doesn’t care if you are white, black, Chinese, German, Kyrgyzstani, or Djiboutian. You could love cats, dogs, turtles, bald eagles, macaroni and cheese, or even double stuff Oreos dipped in milk; it won’t matter when this disease comes knocking on your door.
It is believed to be rooted in Metathesiophobia: fear of changes.
Yes, we are talking about the disease known as
Someday.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has over 5.72 gazillion trillion documented cases of someday in the last 10 years alone. The most common occurrences are found when engaging in conversation with others.
Look for these warning signs during any sort of chit chat that could mean you, your loved ones, or even a perfect stranger is a carrier of someday:
“I would give my left arm and right leg to go to Costa Rica! But I don’t know if I’ll ever have the money… maybe someday.”
“Get together with you for dinner on Friday? I would love to! Oh wait, I don’t know if I’ll have time to after my roommate and I beat The Legend of Zelda. But I promise, someday we’ll grab a bite.”
“Geez Louise Mr. Cunningham, that new job in San Diego sounds amazing! But I have to be honest, it sounds a little risky and I don’t think my cat Mr. Peepers wants to leave Cleveland. Right now I’m just not ready for that big of a change, but someday I will be and I’ll let you know.”
If you suspect someone is infected with someday, do not lose your composure! Remain calm and be prepared to act.
There is a cure…
It was discovered in the most unusual place: a Nike ad campaign that began in 1988. For 24 years we have been sitting on a cure for the most common disease known to mankind. The most perplexing element of this cure is its simplicity.
Although very straightforward, this cure doesn’t come in pill form and can’t be injected into your veins like many of our modern day remedies.
Get out a piece of paper and a pen so you can document this remarkable breakthrough. Be ready to share this with all of your friends and family via twitter, email, text or any other way you kids communicate these days.
The cure for someday lies in 3 words:
Just Do It.
It’s intriguing how such a simple concept has the ability to drastically change our lives. It’s not about being the most intelligent, the best looking, or having the most money in order to be successful and happy.
Just take action… any action and I promise you’ll be amazed at what happens.
For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks… The universe doesn’t conspire against you but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up all the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually,” just do it and correct the course along the way.
